Costa del Sol

The Costa del Sol which in English means Sun Coast or Sunshine Coast, is a region in southern Spain, located in the autonomous region of Andalusia.

The Costa del Sol runs along the Málaga and Cadiz provinces and is one of Spain's most popular tourist destinations with a mild climate that makes it possible to enjoy the beaches and a wide variety of outdoor activities all year round.

Costa del Sol includes the city of Málaga and the smaller towns of Torremolinos, Benalmádena, Fuengirola, Mijas, Marbella, Puerto Banús, San Pedro de Alcántara, Vélez-Málaga, Nerja, Torrox, Estepona and San Luis de Sabinillas.

History of Costa del Sol

The area was settled as far back as the Bronze Age, and it has been colonised and ruled by many cultures. Influences come from the Phoenicians, Carthaginians, Romans, Vandals, Visigoths and Moors.
